Around a year ago, Uganda hosted a gathering for investors and founders to stimulate investment in its early tech ecosystem.

This week, there is a summit in Uganda focusing on deep technology, which deals with significant scientific or engineering challenges like artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and climate change.

The summit, in collaboration with BRAIN (Bridging Research And Innovation), aims to address challenges in Uganda by conducting workshops with various stakeholders such as academia, government officials, foreign investors, and local founders.

Participants will engage in panel discussions and group work to identify Uganda’s key challenges and propose solutions under themes like policy, infrastructure, funding, interconnectedness, talent, and education. The outcomes will be shared with the government.

The event garnered strong engagement, with discussions on the low demand for deep tech in Africa and the need for models that align with global demand.
