In an unfortunate incident on Tuesday night at the Abule Osun area of the Lagos-Badagary Expressway, Lagos State, at least 10 individuals lost their lives, including three children and seven adults, with three others sustaining injuries. The accident occurred when a fully loaded Siena vehicle collided with a stationary truck along the road. Investigations revealed that the speeding Siena vehicle failed to notice the granite-laden truck occupying part of the road.
According to the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, the fatal crash involved a Toyota Sienna bus and a parked SHACMAN truck carrying granite. The impact of the collision resulted in the death of ten people, comprising three adult males, four adult females, two female children, and one male child. The injured were attended to by FRSC officials before being handed over to the LASEMA team.
The LASEMA team, with the help of a Lite Tow Truck, retrieved the damaged Sienna vehicle. The deceased individuals will be managed by the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit. Additionally, reports from a separate incident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway indicated that two passengers lost their lives due to a fall from a moving vehicle near the Moutain Top area, with four others sustaining injuries. Eyewitnesses revealed that the victims, standing in the vehicle, accidentally collided with a bridge, leading to the fatal outcome.
