The ruling political party has distanced itself from a purported splinter group called Team New Nigeria, stating that the dissidents are not recognized members of the party.
Team New Nigeria recently announced its intention to break away from the party and establish a new political entity aimed at addressing various challenges facing the country.
The group’s leader, Modibbo Farakwai, revealed plans to attract millions of voters nationwide to support their cause of establishing a new party free from corruption and ineffective governance.
In response, the Deputy National Organising Secretary of the ruling party expressed surprise at the news, emphasizing that the dissidents are not officially affiliated with the party.
He highlighted that genuine party members are aware of internal mechanisms for addressing grievances and effecting change within the party, rather than resorting to forming a new political party.
Regarding concerns about their impact on future elections, the party official welcomed diverse political participation as long as it adheres to legal frameworks and democratic principles.
