2027: North should back Tinubu, says Sani

A former Senator from Kaduna Central has shared his perspective on the potential candidacy of a prominent political figure for the 2027 presidential election. Emphasizing that the constitution allows any Nigerian to run for office, the Senator suggested that candidates from the Southern region should contest in 2027, with the North having the opportunity to field a candidate in 2031.

He mentioned the importance of supporting the current president due to his past assistance to the North, pointing out that reciprocating this support is crucial. The Senator highlighted the need for Tinubu’s camp to focus on governance issues like security, poverty, and education in the North to enhance his chances of reelection.

Additionally, he stressed the significance of upholding the rotation of power principle for national unity. The Senator expressed confidence that Tinubu could secure another term in 2027 by addressing key issues in the North, despite facing opposition from some northern elites.

In conclusion, the Senator highlighted the importance of addressing economic challenges to regain the support of those who might currently oppose Tinubu’s candidacy.
