300 Rivers farmers receive N150m grant under renewed hope initiative

The head of the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency recently distributed a sum of N150 million to support over 300 farmers in Emohua Local Government Area, Rivers State. This financial aid is part of the Renewed Hope Back to Farm Support Initiative aiming to boost food security and empower small-scale farmers in the region. The recipients, including women, political party supporters, and local aides, each received N50,000 to assist them in various agricultural activities.

The initiative’s primary goal is to help small-scale farmers by providing financial assistance for land rental, staple crop purchase, and farm maintenance costs. The Director General expressed confidence that this support would lead to a successful harvest by the year’s end. The initiative aligns with the agricultural agendas of President Bola Tinubu and Senator Oluremi Tinubu, focusing on empowering farmers to increase their productivity and income.

Recognizing the Emohua community’s agricultural heritage, the Director General emphasized the importance of empowering farmers for sustainability and growth. By easing the financial burden of farming activities, the initiative aims to significantly impact the beneficiaries’ lives and enhance food security in the state. Representatives from both the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress commended the initiative, highlighting its role in fostering human development and economic progress through agriculture.

The grant recipients were urged to utilize the funds wisely to maximize their agricultural output and contribute to the state’s food production capacity. The initiative, part of the government’s broader agricultural empowerment efforts, received positive feedback from beneficiaries who expressed gratitude for the support and pledged to utilize the funds effectively for their farming activities.
