Leading up to the upcoming Ondo governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently disclosed that 55,859 Permanent Voter Cards were successfully collected in the state within a span of five days. This figure accounts for 62.2% of the total 89,777 PVCs that were made available for collection.
The Ondo governorship election is set to take place on November 16, 2024. The collection of PVCs occurred from October 17 to 21, 2024, covering all 203 wards across the state.
In a statement by Sam Olumekun, the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee at INEC, it was highlighted that this collection rate was the highest observed during such a short period since the implementation of the Continuous Voter Registration process in 2015.
INEC has further extended the PVC collection exercise to its 18 Local Government Area (LGA) offices in Ondo State. The statement emphasized the importance of individuals collecting their PVCs in person, as proxy collection is not permitted.
