The Senate Leader recently addressed allegations suggesting he is acting against the Yoruba people in the National Assembly. He dismissed these claims as baseless and unfounded, emphasizing his dedication to serving Ekiti Central, Ekiti State, the South-West, and Nigeria as a whole since his election.
A statement from his Directorate of Media and Public Affairs challenged the authenticity of a reported statement falsely attributed to him. The alleged statement implied a negative view towards regional systems in Nigeria, which he firmly denied making. He clarified that during the Senate Retreat on the Review of the 1999 Constitution, he did not discuss the regional government system proposed in past constitutions.
The Senate Leader expressed readiness to take legal action against those spreading false information about him. He highlighted that there is no current proposal regarding a return to a regional government system before the Senate Ad-hoc Committee on the Constitution Review. He labeled the accusations as politically motivated attempts to tarnish his reputation, emphasizing his commitment to upholding Yoruba interests.
