Kwara donates N2m to boat accident survivors

The Kwara State Government has pledged a donation of N2 million to assist with the medical expenses of survivors from a recent boat mishap in Gbajigbo village, Kaiama Local Government Area of the state. The announcement was made by the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly during a visit to the affected community. The mishap, which occurred as over 200 individuals were traveling to Gbajigbo village in Niger State for an annual celebration, resulted in many casualties.

Around 50 survivors received medical treatment at the Primary Health Center in Gbajigbo. The government delegation, led by the Speaker, expressed condolences to the community and emphasized the importance of safety measures for travelers, such as wearing life jackets.

The Speaker highlighted Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s concern over the incident and stressed the government’s commitment to supporting the victims and their families. The delegation also visited the Emir of Kaiama to convey sympathies before meeting with survivors in Gbajigbo.

During the visit, the Speaker announced a cash donation of N2 million for medical expenses and assured further assistance from the State Emergency Management Agency. Additionally, plans were discussed to improve the local health center and primary school in the community. Various government officials accompanied the Speaker on the visit to Gbajigbo to show support and solidarity with the affected community.
