The National Disciplinary Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, led by Tom Ikimi, a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, has affirmed its commitment to addressing all petitions impartially and effectively. The party has been dealing with internal conflicts post-2023 presidential election, with members accusing each other of working against party interests. In response, the PDP National Working Committee established a disciplinary committee to receive and review petitions, hear all parties involved, and provide recommendations to the National Executive Committee.
In a statement, Ikimi, the Chairman of PDP NDC, expressed confidence that the committee’s fairness, strength, and decisiveness will instill hope and trust within the party, aligning with the expectations of its members nationwide. The NDC has held preliminary meetings in preparation for its challenging task and is ready to commence hearings upon receipt of complaints. The committee assures all PDP members and stakeholders of its dedication to addressing all petitions transparently and in accordance with the party’s constitution. It calls for support and cooperation from all party members and leadership to ensure the successful execution of its responsibilities.
