To enhance security measures in Sokoto State against banditry, the Governor recently provided 10 additional vehicles to support the Nigerian Army. During the handover to the Minister of State for Defence, the Governor expressed gratitude for the President’s attention to national security challenges. He acknowledged the President’s directive for the Defence Minister and service chiefs to relocate to Sokoto as a strong commitment to combating criminal activities in the region.
The Governor reiterated his dedication to collaborating with security agencies to ensure the state’s safety. He emphasized that security is a top priority in his agenda and pledged to utilize state resources for the protection of lives and properties. The Governor also praised the Defence Minister for his efforts in addressing security issues in the North-West region.
In response, the Defence Minister acknowledged the Governor’s persistence in highlighting the state’s security concerns and announced the approval of CMG vehicles for a new operation called “FANSAR YAMMA” to bolster security in Sokoto. He assured the Governor of the military’s support in maintaining peace in the state.
The GOC 8 Div. Nigerian Army Sokoto expressed gratitude for the Governor’s continuous support and affirmed their readiness to combat banditry. The Minister, alongside military officers, took a ride in one of the provided vehicles to signify the collaboration between the state government and the military.
