A recent incident at the College of Health Sciences and Technology in Jega, Kebbi State, involved students setting fire to the residence of the Provost and damaging his vehicle during a protest. The unrest arose from allegations of the college management extorting money from students for index registration. The controversy stemmed from changes in a Public Health program which led to additional fees for students. The Provost denied the allegations and criticized the lack of evidence behind the claims. The situation has since calmed down after the intervention of security agencies. The college’s reputation for producing healthcare professionals is now being questioned due to the crisis.
