The Minister of Defence recently visited Kaduna and reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing banditry and insecurity in the country. During his visit, he discussed the upcoming launch of ‘Operation Fansan Yamma,’ a joint military initiative to combat insecurity in the North-West region. The Minister emphasized the importance of establishing a Command and Control Centre in the Northwest to tackle banditry effectively.
He mentioned the government’s collaboration with neighboring countries like Niger Republic to combat terrorism and arms trafficking. The Minister assured Nigerians of the President’s dedication to ending insecurity nationwide, highlighting ongoing efforts to enhance security measures in Sokoto and its borders with Niger Republic.
Governor Sani welcomed the Minister and emphasized the need for regional cooperation to address security challenges. He expressed gratitude for the government’s commitment to improving security in the North-West Zone and highlighted the detrimental effects of insecurity on the region, including food insecurity and limited access to healthcare and education.
The Governor expressed optimism about the upcoming ‘Operation Fansan Yamma,’ believing it would facilitate economic growth and investment in the region. He also suggested operational changes for security forces in Southern Kaduna for better efficiency. Additionally, he stressed the importance of a strong collaborative framework to effectively tackle insecurity.
Governor Sani commended President Bola Tinubu for his support and thanked the Defence Minister, Chief of Defence Staff, and Military High Command for their assistance in addressing security challenges in the North-West Zone.
