The head of the Nigeria Football Federation has expressed strong determination to defend the honor of the nation and ensure the well-being of the players.
This commitment follows the mistreatment of Nigeria’s national team by Libyan authorities during their recent visit to the country for a football match. The team faced harsh conditions upon arrival, with airport officials showing indifference to their situation.
The players and officials were left stranded at an airport far from their intended destination, lacking basic necessities and support from the Libyan hosts.
After enduring over 20 hours of confinement without provisions or communication, the Nigerian team decided to boycott the scheduled game due to the distressing circumstances.
In a statement to Super Sports, the federation president expressed deep concern over the unprecedented ordeal faced by the team, emphasizing the detrimental impact it had on the players’ well-being and readiness for the match.
