Ondo poll: 55,859 PVCs collected as INEC extends exercise to LGs

Prior to the upcoming Ondo governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission disclosed that 55,859 Permanent Voter Cards had been collected in the state during a five-day period, accounting for 62.2% of the total 89,777 cards available.

The governorship election in Ondo is slated for November 16, 2024.

The collection exercise, conducted from October 17 to 21, 2024, was carried out across all 203 wards in the state.

According to a statement released by the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, INEC noted that this was the highest percentage of PVCs collected within such a brief timeframe since the inception of the Continuous Voter Registration process in 2015.

Subsequently, INEC has expanded the collection process to its 18 LGA offices in Ondo State.

The collection will recommence at the 18 LGA offices in Ondo State from Wednesday, October 23, through Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm daily, including weekends.

Specific details regarding the locations of the LGA offices in the state are accessible on the INEC website.

INEC urges the remaining voters to personally retrieve their PVCs from the LGA offices, emphasizing that no cards will be collected through proxies.
