NUPENG president recounts violent attack in court

The head of the Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers recently gave a harrowing account in court about a violent attack he experienced alongside other union officials. The incident took place at the PTD office in Utako, Abuja, where the group was allegedly ambushed by 20 former union leaders. The attackers, armed with weapons like clubs and stones, physically assaulted the union officials, leading to charges of attempted murder, breach of peace, and assault against them. Despite the defense’s objections during the trial, the prosecution presented evidence of the attack, detailing how the victims were targeted and injured. The case has been adjourned for further proceedings to be held in the near future.
