Otti sacks ABSU VC, Bursar

The Abia State Government has made changes to the leadership at Abia State University, Uturu, by removing Prof. Onyemachi Ogbulu, the Vice Chancellor, and other principal officers. The new Vice Chancellor is Prof. Ndukwe Okeudo, as announced by Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu. The new Pro-Chancellor is Rt. Hon. Agwu U. Agwu, the Chancellor is Prof. Catherine Uju Ifejika, and Onwubiko Dike is a member of the Governing Council. The appointments, including new Deputy Vice Chancellors, members of the Senate, congregation, Convocation, Ministry of Education, and a Bursar, will be effective from November 1, 2024. These changes were a result of the ABSU visitation panel report released and approved on October 26, 2024. The report recommended an investigation into the former VC over issues like his traditional title and Payroll admission. Additionally, it suggested the withdrawal of the M.Phil certificate and the termination of the PhD program of the former Bursar, Mr. Chucks Chikwendu Nwaogwugwu, due to admission irregularities. Former VC, Prof. Ogbulu, had faced rumors about being a traditional ruler and his resignation but chose to await the panel report before commenting on the allegations.
