Fareedah Badmus starts medical journey at Emory University

Many young individuals lack a clear vision for their future endeavors, but for one individual, Fareedah Badmus, the path to becoming a medical doctor was crystal clear and deeply rooted in her desire to help those in need.

Fareedah, the granddaughter of a prominent figure, was recently accepted into the School of Medicine at Emory University in Georgia, United States, a significant achievement that brought immense pride to her parents. The White Coats ceremony at the university marked a pivotal moment in her journey towards practicing medicine with a focus on humanism.

Among thousands of applicants, Fareedah, one of only two Nigerian female students admitted, shared her rigorous application process experience, emphasizing the need to stand out through academic excellence and practical exposure. Her elation upon receiving the acceptance letter highlighted the intense competition and her dedication to pursuing her passion.

Expressing her sentiments on the underrepresentation of black students in medical schools, Fareedah aspires for more diversity and inclusivity in STEM fields, advocating for better opportunities for aspiring black professionals.
