During the 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards, Nollywood films Jagun Jagun and The Weekend emerged victorious in multiple categories. The event, which marked the 20th edition of the awards, took place at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos State. The AMAA, founded in 2005, aims to promote and honor African filmmakers and cinema.

The Weekend, directed by Daniel Oriahi, scooped awards for Best Film and Achievement in Cinematography. The movie featured notable Nigerian actors like Keppy Ekpenyong-Bassey, Uzoamaka Aniunoh, and Gloria Anozie. In Jagun Jagun, Femi Adebayo clinched the Best Actor in a Supporting Role award.

The jury panel, led by Dorothee Wenner, included esteemed members like Steve Ayorinde. Winners in various categories included films like The Weekend, Jagun Jagun, and others. Notable mentions went to actors like Michell Lemuya and Elsie Chidera Abang for their outstanding performances.
