Publicise completed road projects, minister charges FERMA

The Minister of State for the Federal Ministry of Works, Bello Goronyo, has emphasized the importance of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency providing regular updates on road rehabilitation projects to enhance communication with the public, National Assembly, and other stakeholders.

During a meeting with FERMA’s management and board members, led by Managing Director/CEO Chukwuemeka Agbasi in Abuja, Goronyo stressed the need for transparent communication due to concerns over the poor state of Nigeria’s roads and the high number of road accidents.

He called for increased publicity of FERMA’s achievements for proper evaluation by stakeholders, highlighting the necessity for ongoing updates to be shared with the National Assembly and other relevant parties.

The meeting aimed to establish a clear work plan and roadmap for FERMA’s activities nationwide, following a previous session in Kano. It also addressed the importance of improved communication between FERMA and the National Assembly, ensuring board members are informed about agency activities.

Goronyo identified areas of concern regarding the non-implementation of the 2024 budget and encouraged FERMA to create a template for ongoing projects, with plans to assess projects in all geo-political zones.

He expressed gratitude to FERMA’s management and board for their visit, promising continued engagements to support President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on enhancing infrastructure and transportation for national growth.
