Northern youth group slams Kano lawmaker over support for tax reform

The recent stance of a House of Representatives member representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency of Kano State on a controversial tax reform bill has drawn criticism from the Northern Youth Assembly. The Assembly expressed disappointment over the lawmaker’s endorsement of the bill, which they believe could negatively impact the economic and commercial status of the Northern region.

The Assembly, representing Northern Nigerian youth, highlighted the pressing issues faced by the North, such as electricity shortages, insecurity, poverty, unemployment, and poor infrastructure. They urged the lawmaker to focus on addressing these challenges rather than supporting a tax reform bill that could further burden businesses and families in the region.

In their statement, the Assembly emphasized the importance of having leaders who prioritize the interests of Northern Nigeria and work towards improving the socio-economic conditions of the people. They called for a shift in focus towards addressing the pressing issues affecting the region instead of championing policies that may not benefit the Northern Nigerian populace.
