The suspension of 13 students from a Federal Government College in Enugu State has been announced by the Federal Government due to reported bullying incidents. The Ministry of Education confirmed this action, emphasizing the commitment to ensuring safe and conducive learning environments in federal schools nationwide. The Minister of Education acted in response to a viral video showcasing the students engaging in bullying behavior. A disciplinary committee was formed to investigate the matter, leading to the suspension of the students for six weeks pending the committee’s report. Security measures have been intensified at the College, with collaboration between the School Based Management Committee and security agencies for a thorough investigation. Counseling and rehabilitation support will also be provided to address any underlying issues and facilitate the students’ reintegration into a positive school environment.
