The Governor of Lagos State recently emphasized the importance of safety to prevent fire incidents, a common occurrence in the state. He made these remarks during the opening of new fire stations in Ijegun-Egba and Ijede, Ikorodu.
The governor highlighted that the strategic locations of the new stations were essential for addressing domestic fires, industrial accidents, and emergencies effectively. He emphasized that these stations are crucial for saving lives and improving response times.
Furthermore, the governor called for collaboration between the private sector and the government to enhance safety measures and protect lives. He expressed confidence in the capabilities of the firefighters and assured the public of the administration’s commitment to prioritizing safety.
The Commissioner for Special Duties also underscored the need for efficient emergency response infrastructure, especially with the growing population of Lagos. He mentioned the upgraded facilities and trained personnel at the new station, emphasizing its role in ensuring a resilient Lagos State.
In addition, the community was urged to be security conscious and proactive in preventing fire incidents. Public safety was emphasized as a shared responsibility, with a call for vigilance to avoid such incidents.
The Director of Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service acknowledged the challenges faced in safeguarding the large population of Lagos and stressed the importance of robust management.
Lastly, a local monarch expressed gratitude for the construction of the station, highlighting the community’s anticipation and appreciation for the initiative.
