The late Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja’s remains have been brought to Abuja for his final burial.
His body arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 12:16 pm.
The funeral proceedings will start with a Service of Songs on Thursday, followed by his interment on Friday afternoon.
Maj Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, stated that Lagbaja will be laid to rest at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja on Friday.

Lagbaja’s body was received in Abuja with a guard of honor as military officials paid their respects.
The late army chief was escorted down a red carpet at the presidential wing of the airport.
President Bola Tinubu expressed his condolences to Lagbaja’s family and the Nigerian Armed Forces in a statement.
Born on February 28, 1968, Lt Gen Lagbaja served as Chief of Army Staff for over a year after his appointment in June 2023.
His military career began in 1987 at the Nigerian Defence Academy, and he held various command positions in key operations across the country.
Lagbaja, an alumnus of the U.S. Army War College, had a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies, highlighting his dedication to military expertise.
He is survived by his wife, Mariya, and their two children.
