The highly anticipated rematch between two renowned boxers has been postponed until 2026, as reported by Sports Extra.
The IBF world champion’s promoter disclosed that the delay was due to mandatory challenger obligations that Anthony Joshua needs to fulfill, keeping him unavailable for the upcoming bout.
According to the promoter, the initial fight between the two was a mandatory one, granting the boxer a period to prepare for his next match. Joshua is currently recovering from injuries sustained during his previous fight against his opponent.
With Joshua’s expected return in the summer, the rematch is on hold as the other boxer is set to face the winner of an elimination match later this year. Negotiations for the rematch have hit a standstill, leading both fighters to potentially engage in other matches before meeting again in the ring.
