A recent development at MTN Nigeria includes the appointment of Yahaya Ibrahim as the new Chief Technical Officer (CTO) and Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka as Chief Marketing Officer. This change took effect on Monday, October 14, 2024.
Yahaya Ibrahim, a longstanding member of MTN since 2002, has been instrumental in the deployment of Nigeria’s first 4G and 5G networks, solidifying MTN’s reputation as a leader in cutting-edge technology. Notably, in his role as General Manager of Network Implementation in 2015, he supervised the rollout of over 37,000 kilometers of fiber optic infrastructure.
Ibrahim’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from the University of Abuja, a Master’s degree in Telecommunications from Birmingham City University, and executive management programs completed at Lagos Business School and Harvard Business School.
Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka, taking over from Adia Sohwo as CMO, began her journey at MTN in 2001 as a Corporate Sales Executive. Over the years, she has held various leadership positions within the company. Her notable contributions include enhancing the MTN fixed broadband business, leading to a subscriber base of over 3 million.
Ikenna-Emeka holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geology from the University of Calabar, an MBA in General Management from the University of Manchester, and is a Fellow of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) and the Institute of Sales and Marketing Management of Nigeria (ISMMN). She has also completed executive programs in Leadership, Commercial Strategies, and Technology Innovation at renowned institutions.
Currently, she is pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) at Cranfield University’s School of Management.
