A global talent outsourcing company has joined forces with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) to provide training in cloud-native basics for 20,000 Africans. The aim of this initiative is to combat the shortage of cloud-native talents on a global scale.
The training program, which is free and spans three years, will concentrate on Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies. Participants will have the opportunity to pursue certifications such as the Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA) and Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).
This program will be accessible to over 150,000 tech professionals in Andela’s talent marketplace, with a focus on participants from Africa. Additionally, individuals will have access to a supportive community and mentorship opportunities.
This collaboration is in response to the increasing demand for cloud-native talents worldwide. The scarcity of skilled cloud professionals has had adverse effects on businesses, leading to project delays, higher costs, and decreased competitiveness. It is predicted that by 2025, there will be around 7.5 million unfilled cloud positions globally.
The CNCF CTO expressed that through this collaboration, they aim to empower African developers and help bridge the tech talent gap globally. The CEO of the talent outsourcing company emphasized the growing need for proficient tech talent in Africa and the potential for African professionals to fill the void on a global scale.
Participants in the training program will be selected from Andela’s talent marketplace and are expected to complete the KCNA and CKAD certifications within six to nine months.
