Osun youths demand thorough probe into park chairman’s case

A group of Osun youths in Abuja have urged the Inspector General of Police to ensure justice prevails in the case involving the Chairman of the Osun State Park Management System. The chairman, also known as Alowonle, was arrested for various charges, including murder, attempted murder, unlawful possession of firearms, and malicious damage. The situation escalated when Alowonle was allegedly shot while in police custody, leading to a blame game between the police and the park management.

During a press conference, the National Youths Inclusive Initiative and the Societal Safety Network emphasized the importance of the police maintaining professionalism and not giving in to emotional pressures. They called for peace to be restored in Osun to prevent further chaos. The groups also requested that the police investigate and clear any allegations of supplying firearms to the suspect.

While commending the Osun State Police Command for their dedication, the groups criticized the state government for downplaying the seriousness of the situation and attempting to justify Alowonle’s release. They condemned the government’s response as unpatriotic and called for it to be rejected by well-meaning citizens.
