The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources highlighted Nigeria’s progress in boosting crude oil production during an inspection at the Abigail Joseph Floating Production Storage and Offloading facility in Bayelsa State. The facility, currently producing 60,000 barrels per day, aims to reach 70,000 bpd soon and eventually scale up to 100,000 bpd. The Minister praised the facility’s advancements and emphasized its importance in achieving national production targets.
The Managing Director of FIRST E&P Limited expressed commitment to exceeding production goals with the support of partners and ongoing initiatives. The Chief Upstream Investment Officer of NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services assured alignment with national objectives and commended the joint venture’s achievements.
The Minister acknowledged the pivotal role of partnerships like the NNPCL-First E&P collaboration in driving growth in Nigeria’s oil sector. He encouraged other indigenous operators to capitalize on ongoing reforms to advance the country’s energy goals. The Abigail Joseph FPSO serves as a symbol of progress and collaboration in Nigeria’s oil industry, showcasing the potential of indigenous-led partnerships in unlocking hydrocarbon wealth.
