The governor of Kano State recently oversaw the return of 76 minors who were arrested during the #EndBadGovernance protest to their families. The minors had been housed at the Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital for medical care following their detention.
The minors, some of whom were under 18, had been involved in the protest in Kano and Kaduna. After public outcry and intervention, they were released from detention, with President Bola Tinubu ordering their immediate release.
Vice President Kashim Shettima later handed over the minors to their respective governors at a ceremony in Abuja before they were transported back to Kano for medical treatment.
During the handover to their parents, the governor expressed gratitude for the release of the minors and urged parents to support their education for the benefit of the state and the country.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the education of these children and warned against soliciting financial aid from unauthorized sources. The education commissioner assured that the children would receive the necessary support to continue their schooling.
The government also pledged support for those who had completed secondary education and those who were still in school. Shoes, uniforms, and medical treatment were provided to aid in their educational journey.
The parents expressed appreciation for the government’s actions, and a former governor donated funds to support the education of the released minors.
