Two organizations focused on human rights issues have urged the Attorney-General of the Federation to allow the courts to handle an ongoing criminal case involving two foreign oil companies accused of stealing a significant amount of Automotive Gas Oil. The case, which has faced delays due to certain legal actions, is being closely monitored by the groups advocating for timely justice.
The groups emphasized the importance of ensuring that the legal process moves forward smoothly without undue interruptions. They highlighted the need for the Attorney-General to exercise his powers in a manner that upholds the principles of justice and serves the public interest.
While acknowledging the legal authority of the Attorney-General to intervene in cases as provided by the constitution, the organizations stressed the importance of aligning such actions with the broader goals of justice and fairness. They reiterated their call for the case to proceed without further hindrances or for a mutually acceptable resolution to be explored.
