Security personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps who were assigned to work during the recent governorship election in Ondo State are expressing frustration over the delay in receiving their allowances. The officers, numbering six thousand and including individuals from neighboring states, are disappointed as their counterparts from other security agencies have already been compensated.
Some of the affected officers, speaking anonymously, emphasized the economic hardships faced in the country and criticized the unnecessary delay in their payment.
One officer voiced out, stating, “Those of us who were involved in the Ondo election are yet to receive our allowances. While other security personnel have been paid, we are still waiting. This delay is impacting us negatively given the current economic situation.”
Another officer echoed these sentiments, urging for answers from the Commandant General regarding the outstanding payments.
In response to the concerns raised, the NSCDC spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi, disclosed that discussions had taken place with senior NSCDC officials to address the payment delay issue.
Afolabi further clarified that, according to management, the officers who were on duty during the election in Ondo State had already received their allowances on-site.
