Reports indicate that a well-known businessman was abducted by gunmen in the Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. The victim, Samuel Ekerenam, who owns Hephzibah Mall in the area, was taken by the criminals after they stormed his shopping complex and fired shots to create chaos.
An eyewitness mentioned that the incident occurred over the weekend, resulting in the death of the man’s driver and injuries to the police officer accompanying him.
Family sources have mentioned that the abductors have not made any ransom demands yet, leaving uncertainty about their motives.
The state Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the incident and stated that the police force is actively searching for the abducted businessman with the deployment of tactical operatives.
