A’Ibom declares Friday work-free day to honour late First Lady

The Akwa Ibom State Government has officially declared Friday, November 29, 2024, as a day off to honor the late First Lady, Mrs. Patience Eno. The announcement was made by the Secretary to the State Government, Enobong Uwah, in Uyo, the state capital. This decision was made to allow the people of Akwa Ibom and well-wishers to pay their final respects to the departed First Lady, who passed away on September 26, 2024, after a short illness.

Mrs. Patience Eno will be laid to rest in the governor’s hometown, Ikot Ekpene Udo, in the Nsik-Ibium Local Government Area of the state on November 29, 2024. The statement emphasized the importance of honoring the late First Lady and paying respects during her obsequies.

The State Government, in consultation with the bereaved family, declared the day as a work-free day to allow Akwa Ibomites to participate in the final rites in Ikot Ekpene Udo. The statement concluded with a message of peace for the departed First Lady, wishing her soul eternal rest in the arms of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
