Two entrepreneurs from Nigeria made a bold move by leaving their jobs to venture into selling jollof rice in the United Kingdom. The business, named ‘2 Nigerian Boys,’ took off in February 2019 in London’s Financial District, Spitalfield market. The idea sprouted when the partners were craving smoky jollof rice and couldn’t find it.
Their business kicked off with a bang as they sold out within 30 minutes on the first day, prompting them to quit their jobs and focus on their new venture. Their success hinged on the positive reception from customers, with 90% of them being non-Africans who particularly enjoyed the beef. The lunchtime business operates between 12pm and 2pm, attracting a bustling crowd.
One unique aspect of their business is that the food is cooked on-site, drawing attention from passersby. Following positive feedback, a branch was opened in Briston. The business partner, referred to as a ‘magician’ for their culinary skills, remains anonymous. Their partnership and dedication to providing authentic Nigerian cuisine have propelled their business forward.
