In an announcement on social media, it was revealed that a Lebanese-American businessman named Massad Boulos has been appointed as the Senior Advisor to the President on Arab and Middle Eastern affairs by US President-elect Donald Trump. Boulos played a significant role in the Trump campaign, particularly in mobilizing Arab American and Muslim voters who were dissatisfied with President Joe Biden’s stance on Israel during the Gaza war.
Boulos is tasked with overseeing a challenging portfolio that includes ongoing conflicts in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria. Notably, he is the father-in-law of Trump’s daughter Tiffany’s husband. This appointment follows a trend in Trump’s administration of selecting individuals based on personal connections rather than experience or qualifications.
In regard to resolving conflicts in the region, Boulos emphasized the importance of swift action to achieve peace and prosperity for regions like Gaza and Lebanon. He expressed a desire for Palestinians and Israelis to coexist peacefully and securely.
Additionally, it was mentioned that Boulos’s family is involved in the operation of automotive parts distribution companies in Nigeria, and he has previously pursued a political position in Lebanon without success.
Trump’s selection of Boulos and other controversial figures for key roles has drawn criticism for prioritizing personal loyalty over expertise. This trend is evident in his choice of individuals like Charles Kushner and Kash Patel for important positions within his administration.
