Bayelsa accuses APC of diverting FG flood palliatives

The Bayelsa State government has revealed that certain individuals from the All Progressives Congress in the state have been accused of diverting relief items meant for flood victims. The state Commissioner for Information shared this information during a briefing, stating that the items received included rice, beans, mosquito nets, spaghetti, tomato paste, detergent, bathing soap, salt, vegetable oil, milk, seasoning cubes, cooking stoves, grinding machines, sewing machines, motorcycles, and rubber slippers.

The government emphasized that despite receiving these items, there were reports of additional supplies being distributed among APC members. The government intends to distribute palliatives to flood victims and vulnerable individuals in the coming days.

In a separate statement, the Assistant Publicity Secretary of the Bayelsa State chapter of the APC refuted the allegations, explaining that federal relief supplies are meant for states, not political parties. He also highlighted past instances where APC members were reportedly excluded from receiving such assistance due to partisan distribution practices in the state.
