An unidentified woman suffered first-degree burns from a chemical explosion in Lagos due to prolonged exposure to heat radiation, as reported by the Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, Margaret Adeseye.
The incident took place around 7 pm along the old Abeokuta Motor Road in Lagos. The chemical, stored in various sizes of kegs in an open space, exploded, causing the burns.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service managed to rescue the woman from the fire caused by the chemical explosion at the location on Old Abeokuta Motor Road in Agege, Lagos. The incident was reported at 18:38 hours on Friday, and the Agege Fire and rescue crew quickly brought the situation under control.
The woman is currently receiving medical treatment for her burns, while an investigation is underway to determine the type of chemical involved and its ownership.
Adeseye mentioned that the explosion was likely caused by heat radiation since the chemical was exposed to sunlight without protection. The woman is responding well to treatment for her burns.
