Three unions representing workers at the local government level in Kebbi State have expressed their gratitude towards the State Governor for approving and implementing the new minimum wage of N75,000 for state and local government employees.
The unions that have commended the Governor include the National Union of Local Government Employees, the National Union of Teachers, and the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria.
In a statement issued by the Kebbi State Chairman of NULGE, Alhaji Faruk Abubakar-Sadiq, the Governor was praised for his generosity in approving and enforcing the new minimum wage for all workers in the State Civil Service and Local Government Service.
Abubakar-Sadiq, speaking on behalf of the unions, noted that the Governor’s actions showcased his commitment to ensuring the well-being of workers in the state.
He further conveyed the unions’ appreciation to the Governor for promptly implementing the new minimum wage, emphasizing the positive impact on the welfare of workers in the state.
Addressing concerns of omitted or underpaid workers within the unions, the chairman advised affected individuals to formally report their grievances to the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs through their respective Directors of Finance and Supply.
He assured that any complaints regarding omission or underpayment would be addressed by the ministry upon proper submission through the designated channels.
