The head of the Kaduna State Road Agency, Dr. Abdullahi Ahmed, expressed the government’s strong commitment to completing the Kafanchan township dualisation road project promptly and to high standards. During an inspection with Southern Kaduna political appointees, Ahmed revealed that over N5 billion has been disbursed to the contractors to ensure the project’s progress. The governor has set a strict deadline of six weeks for the completion of the road.
Ahmed highlighted the administration’s dedication to enhancing the citizens’ quality of life through infrastructure development. He mentioned that through negotiations, the project cost was reduced from ₦13 billion to around ₦9.3 billion. The government has already released 50% of the approved funds to the contractor, aiming for significant progress before Christmas.
The road project is not just a local initiative but also a crucial link to other states, including the FCT. Once completed, it is expected to boost economic activities and improve livelihoods in the Southern Kaduna region. The government is also overseeing other significant projects in the area, such as the construction of asphalt roads and bridges to enhance connectivity and infrastructure.
Ahmed concluded by emphasizing the government’s focus on completing inherited projects to uplift the region, including road infrastructure, hospital upgrades, and skill acquisition centers. The aim is to address inherited debts and prioritize developmental projects for the benefit of the community.
