In Delta State, a tragic incident unfolded when a young boy named Emeka Odogwu, aged 17, was fatally shot by a police officer in Ozoro community. The boy was found with fireworks, leading to a confrontation with the police. Despite efforts to escape, the boy was shot dead by one of the officers.
The Delta State Police Command confirmed the officer’s arrest and detention in connection with the incident. The Commissioner of Police has intervened, promising justice for the victim’s family.
An advocacy group known as Initiative For Social Rights Concerns And Advancement strongly denounced the killing and called for a thorough investigation to ensure the responsible officer faces legal consequences. The group urged both the police and the community to maintain civility in their interactions, especially in dealing with law enforcement.
The group expressed condolences to the bereaved family and criticized the officer’s actions, emphasizing the need for professionalism and accountability in law enforcement.
