A group known as Ekpeye Advocacy Group has challenged the recent statement made by the Governor of Rivers State regarding the arrest of two monarchs. The group, represented by Olimini Chinuzoke and Nnamdi Ezebalike, argued that the monarchs were actually detained in relation to an alleged murder case, not due to their political support.
The Governor had implied that the monarchs and the Chief of Staff were targeted for their political affiliations during an event at Government Girls’ Secondary School in Ahoada Town. However, the Ekpeye Advocacy Group refuted this claim, stating that the arrest of the monarchs was linked to the murder of a police officer, not political alliances.
According to the group, the murder of the Divisional Police Officer occurred before any political conflicts involving the governor, making the connection between the arrests and political support invalid. They emphasized that the events were separate and that the governor’s attempt to associate them was inaccurate.
