A commercial warehouse in Tabansi Estate, Limca Road opposite Crunches in Nkpor, Anambra State, was engulfed in flames resulting in the destruction of goods and property worth millions of naira. The fire, which broke out late on Saturday, sparked chaos and panic among nearby residents who rushed to salvage their belongings.
Fortunately, there were no casualties reported, but eyewitnesses revealed that the fire originated from a corner of the warehouse building. Firefighters from the State Fire Service arrived at the scene and worked tirelessly to extinguish the flames and prevent further damage to neighboring structures.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, with speculation pointing to excessive heat due to the prevailing hot weather conditions. The Anambra State Fire Service, under the leadership of Chukwudi Chiketa, confirmed the incident and stated that after containing the initial fire, it rekindled, necessitating additional firefighting efforts.
A crew of firefighters and firefighting equipment were promptly dispatched to the scene upon receiving the distress call. The statement issued by the Fire Service urged the public to prioritize fire safety awareness and precautions to prevent such incidents in the future.
