I killed my 41-day-old son under a spell – Trainee herbalist

A man identified as a trainee herbalist in Ogun State was apprehended by the police for allegedly killing his 41-day-old son in Abeokuta. The suspect claimed he was under a spell when he committed the act. The incident took place when the baby’s mother found him with a slit throat after leaving him on a bed while she was outside doing laundry. The wife implicated her husband in the child’s death, leading to his arrest.

In an interrogation video, the suspect admitted to using a knife to harm his son but attributed his actions to being under the influence of a spell. He explained feeling compelled to commit a crime after forgetting some protective charms at home. The man recounted how he returned home, felt restless, and ended up harming his child.

The suspect expressed remorse for his actions and denied any intention to harm his wife. He fled the scene after realizing what he had done and pleaded for leniency from the authorities.
