Be Lagos ambassadors, Sanwo-Olu’s wife urges intending pilgrims

The spouse of the Lagos State Governor, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, shared a message with potential Christian pilgrims urging them to represent Christ and Lagos State well during their pilgrimage.

This appeal was made during the Service of Dedication for the upcoming Pilgrimage Exercise in 2024, organized by the Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board at the Chapel of Christ The Light in Alausa, Ikeja.

The Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission is set to airlift 10,000 Christians who have registered for this year’s pilgrimage to Jordan on December 22.

Each pilgrim has contributed N3 million, totaling N30 billion from the Nigerian group.

Bishop Stephen Adegbite, the Executive Secretary of NCPC, disclosed this information recently.

Representing Ibijoke at the event, Reverend Bukola Adeleke, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Matters (Christian), emphasized the significance of the pilgrimage for spiritual growth and faith enhancement.

The theme of the service, “Let Us Go and See,” was highlighted as a call to draw closer to God and strengthen faith.

The pilgrims were encouraged to pray for the peace and progress of Lagos State and Nigeria during their journey.

Reverend Stephen Adegbite from NCPC also addressed the attendees, offering prayers for a safe pilgrimage and reminding them of their responsibility as Lagos representatives.

He advised them to respect the laws of the holy lands, follow the guidance of tour guides, and maintain good behavior throughout the pilgrimage.

Yetunde Gbafe, the Secretary of LSCPWB Board, stressed the importance of focusing on the spiritual aspects of the pilgrimage rather than the social aspects.

“I urge all intending pilgrims to support one another and act as good representatives. Engage fully in the pilgrimage activities,” said Gbafe.

Gbafe praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his continuous support of the program and encouraged the pilgrims to continue prayers even after the pilgrimage concludes.
