15-year-old killed in NIger gang clash, five suspects arrested

In Minna, Niger State, a violent clash between two gangs led to the death of a 15-year-old suspected hoodlum named Saidu Udu. The police arrested five suspects who were trying to flee the scene. The Niger State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that their patrol team responded, but the culprits had already escaped. The clash, involving over 50 hoodlums, reportedly started over a disagreement about the distribution of Christmas money given by an unknown source.

Eyewitnesses described how the hoodlums, armed with various weapons, turned violent, resulting in Udu being fatally stabbed in the stomach. Residents expressed concern over the escalating violence caused by these hoodlums in Minna, with frequent clashes leaving individuals injured, robbed, or dead. Despite police efforts to control the situation, these criminal elements, locally known as Yan Daba, continue to create fear in the city.

The Police Commissioner had previously assured residents of heightened security during the festive period, but encounters with these miscreants have resulted in casualties and ongoing criminal activities. Efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining fleeing hoodlums and investigate the arrested suspects further.
