NASC reverts Atiku’s appointment, elevates Yaroes as N’Assembly deputy clerk

The National Assembly Service Commission has recently approved the appointment of Aminu Yero as the Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly. This decision was made during an emergency meeting held on Tuesday, December 24, 2024. Previously, Ibrahim Atiku was appointed as the Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly but was later reassigned following discussions at a meeting attended by key figures including the Speaker, Senate President, and commissioners.

After deliberations, it was decided to appoint Bashir Yero as the new Deputy Clerk from the Estate and Works Directorate. Additionally, Sanda Liman was reassigned from the Procurement Directorate to the Estate and Works Directorate. Atiku, who was promoted to a permanent secretary, was directed to take a role in the Procurement Directorate.

The Director of Finance and Accounts, Atiku, was also appointed as the Secretary of the Directorate of Procurement and Supplies. Meanwhile, Liman Sanda was redeployed as the Secretary of Estate and Works.

The appointments and redeployments were made in recognition of the individuals’ hard work and administrative competence, with the Commission urging them to uphold the confidence placed in them. These changes are set to take effect from 2nd February 2025, along with the appointment of Barrister Kamoru Ogunlana as the substantive Clerk to the National Assembly.
