The government of Ekiti State has restated its dedication to ensuring the safety of residents and their properties during the upcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations. The Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, has encouraged citizens to play an active role in maintaining security by reporting any suspicious activities promptly. This collaboration is vital in supporting the efforts of the government and security agencies in combating crime. Olatunbosun emphasized the collective responsibility of all residents in sustaining peace within the state. He highlighted the importance of reporting suspicious activities to help prevent crime and maintain a safer society. The commissioner also warned against complacency in communities, emphasizing the need for residents to protect public infrastructure from vandalism and theft. Additionally, he advised against risky behaviors like bush burning, particularly during the dry season, to prevent potential fire disasters. Ekiti was recognized as one of the safest and most peaceful states in Nigeria, with the government committed to improving policing and public safety measures. Olatunbosun reiterated that those involved in illegal activities would face legal consequences. He further discussed the government’s emphasis on agribusiness, revealing plans to allocate a significant portion of the budget towards mechanized farming to create job opportunities and empower the youth in Ekiti.
