The Kano State Police Command has successfully apprehended the main suspect responsible for the recent surge in violent clashes between youths from Kofar Mata and Zango areas. The spokesperson for the Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the arrest in a statement released recently. The suspect, Kabiru Jamilu, 21 years old, was arrested near Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital in Kano. Jamilu, identified as the instigator behind the tensions and fights, confessed to leading the violence. Another suspect, Umar Garba, 32 years old, was also arrested in possession of a sharp knife and both have been transferred for further interrogation. The Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, urged residents to assist in restoring peace by providing crucial information. Residents were advised to report emergencies to the police or use the provided emergency hotlines. The state government reiterated its commitment to resolving thuggery and addressing the root causes of recent violence in the region.
