Tinubu mourns ex-Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh

Condolences have been extended by a prominent figure to the government and people of India following the passing of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

Dr. Singh, who served as India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, passed away at the age of 92.

In a statement released by the State House and signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Dr. Singh was praised as a visionary leader with significant contributions to Nigeria-India relations.

President Tinubu highlighted Dr. Singh’s historic visit to Nigeria in 2007, where he addressed a joint session of the Nigerian National Assembly, a rare honor for global leaders.

The President acknowledged Dr. Singh’s role in strengthening the Nigeria-India relationship through the establishment of the Strategic Partnership, leading to mutual political and economic benefits.

President Tinubu commended Dr. Singh’s efforts in enhancing cooperation in various sectors such as defense trade, culture, education, health, science and technology, and ICT.

He expressed appreciation to the Indian people for honoring Dr. Singh’s legacy and hoped that his legacy of service would inspire future generations.
