Lookman tops Nigerians goal chart in 2024

In a review of the performance of Nigerian players abroad in the last game of the year, here are the stats of five forwards, with Ademola Lookman leading the pack.

Ademola Lookman, playing for Atalanta, had an impressive season with 22 goals and 12 assists in 42 games across all competitions. Despite missing the beginning of the year due to the 2023 AFCON, Lookman made a strong comeback and even secured Atalanta’s first-ever European title.

Victor Osimhen, splitting his time between Napoli and Galatasaray, scored 21 goals and provided 4 assists in 29 games. Osimhen faced some challenges during the year, including a failed transfer before landing a loan move to Galatasaray.

Cyril Dessers of Rangers scored 25 goals and contributed 8 assists in 54 games, showcasing a prolific season in Scotland.

Tolu Arokodare, playing for Genk, recorded 20 goals and 4 assists, making him one of the standout Nigerian strikers abroad.

Victor Boniface, facing injuries at Bayer Leverkusen, managed 13 goals and 2 assists in 26 games, proving his potential as a goal scorer when fit.
